Message from the Principal, Ms. Ivy Sarratt 8/31/15 August 28, 2015 - 9:24am

Student drop off and pick up continues to be a focus at Castlemont, particularly during construction.  We want our students safe and the flow of traffic to be as stress free as possible.  To help divert traffic congestion, we are encouraging parents to use the side streets to park and walk to school as an alternative.  When walking, and for the safety of everyone, please take the extra few minutes to use the crosswalk.

School Site Council Election August 28, 2015 - 1:02pm

There are currently four seats to fill in one of the most important decision-making groups at Castlemont, our elected School Site Council. The Council is composed of parents, community members, and representatives from the school’s staff. The Council reviews the school plan annually, establishes a budget, makes modifications as necessary, and assists in the evaluation of the school’s programs. If you are interested in submitting your name for election, please come to the office for more information.

State assessment reports to be released in the fall September 1, 2015 - 8:33am

Officials from the State of California will be releasing scores from the State’s new testing system in September, not August, as originally planned.

“We are taking an abundance of caution to ensure that the substantial amount of data we are receiving is properly collected and placed in new files on a new site,” said Department of Education spokeswoman Pam Slater. “Additionally, the department will be launching a new website to display the results and needs sufficient time to test the new site.”

Build the Habit of Good Attendance September 4, 2015 - 9:43am

Parents and educators have a key role in our children’s success, and it all starts with teaching, building and supporting good life habits.

Good habits:

  • Start early and last a lifetime
  • Become second nature through regular practice
  • Are a part of the learning process
  • Makes us more productive and effective
  • Are the basis to success
  • Are powerful

One of the most important life habits we can instill in our students is attendance, or “showing up.”
