Next week, Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 7-13), Castlemont School will join in the Hour of Code, a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. It is designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics of computer science.

Whatever work our students go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and fewer students are studying it than a decade ago.

Student Assessment Reports November 24, 2015 - 11:22am

From the Superintendent

Parents often ask me: “When will I find out the results of my child’s tests?”

Each year our teachers administer several assessments to determine student growth and inform their classroom teaching practice. These assessments—tests, quizzes, class projects, and the like—provide multiple ways to measure student progress towards learning the important concepts they need for success in school and in the community at-large.

Reduce Holiday Stress November 20, 2015 - 2:22pm

As the holidays approach, so does the stress, especially for children. Here are some helpful tips that may help you reduce stress in your household.

Limit TV and video games — It's very easy at this time of the year to allow the TV and video games to become the babysitter, but children who are stressed also need physical activity or exercise.
