Hello Castlemont Families,
It's hard to believe that we have only 66 more school days left this year! Here is the latest news and event information from around campus:

On February 4th, we held a dedication for our memorial tree and plaque for our student Kekoa Pagan. Our fifth grade students painted rocks in honor of their friend and classmate and then placed them around the base of his tree.

Breakfast is coming! We are finalizing plans with our Child Nutrition department to provide breakfast to any student who wants it. It will be free of charge, just as it is for our lunch program. Breakfast will be served during our morning recess. We expect our morning meal program to be up and running in the next few weeks.

I am happy to announce that we have two assemblies planned during March and April. I do not want to ruin the surprise, but I will share that both events will be held outdoors and will be for all students.

We have a new face in our front office. Please welcome Robert Ortiz, our health and front office aide, taking over for Bibiana Murillo, who has moved to our administrative assistant position. Upcoming Testing: We have ELPAC testing for our English Learner students starting on March 14th. SBAC (state standardized testing) will begin on April 18th. We will complete make-up tests by May 27th.

Our Home and School Club sponsored Jogathon is returning this year on May 27th! Much more information to come.

Our focal character trait for March is perseverance. Perseverance is defined as "the ability to work through situations even when there are obstacles or challenges in the way." Please ask your child what they are learning about perseverance and how they can apply this character trait.
