Upcoming Castlemont Community Fun

Hello Castlemont Families,

We will be enjoying a variety of community events and hope that you will join us.  This Friday we are holding our extremely popular Halloween Dance Fundraiser.  All proceeds will go back into funding classroom materials and activities.  Since we have to cap our dance attendance at the capacity of our Multi-Use room, we have families that were not able to buy tickets. I know this is disappointing. Please know that we will be holding an outdoor dance this spring-- outdoor meaning that we will not need to limit attendance.  

Coming next Friday, October 28th is the Castlemont Jog-a-thon! Each grade level has a designated participation time between 8:30- 12:30.  It is an INCREDIBLY positive, fun day, and we invite you to join us.  Many parents have signed up to volunteer, and we still need more volunteers throughout the day, especially for 4th and 5th grade classes. In addition to the fun of participating in Jog-a-thon with friends, EVERY Castlemont student receives a free Jog-a-thon t-shirt.  The shirts are funded by our Home and School Club and through the generosity of family and community sponsors. I will be announcing the student winner of the t-shirt design contest this Friday, Oct. 21 right after the morning announcements and our weekly Name that Tune contest.  

In addition to the dance and Jog-a-thon, we also have our Halloween Parade on the 31st.  I am excited to share that we can once again invite our parents and families to join us in viewing the parade.  The parade starts at approximately 8:40. Teachers lead their classes around the blacktop area of our yard.  Stand anywhere in front of a classroom area or at the edge of the field for the best viewing.  We will conclude at about 9:00.  We will be closing our gates for the day at approximately 9:15.  Please-- no costumes with masks, weapons, or gore/blood. 

Not every family wants their child to participate in the parade.  Students who will not be participating will go to our school library to  help prepare for our Autumn-themed door decorating contest next week.

Parent Volunteers Prepare our Library for Re-Opening

Look at these wonderful people. These are the Castlemont family volunteers who spent last Saturday afternoon cleaning and preparing our library for re-opening. Thanks to the efforts of these volunteers, teachers will be signing up for library time soon. We always welcome parents to volunteer in the library.  A special thank you to Barbie Rosato for organizing this effort!

Library Clean-Up Day, Saturday 10/15

The Home & School Club is looking for volunteers to help get the Castlemont Library ready for reopening.  Come help us clean off the dust, shelve books, and organize the library so it is ready for our students!

Hello Castlemont Families,

It has been gratifying to see so many of you during our parent-teacher conferences this week. Your partnership with us is an essential part of your child's success and the strength of our community as a whole. 

A couple of upcoming items: 

* Please take a moment to vote for our new School Site Council family representatives.   The link to the voting form is here or in the separate article on the website.  

* You asked for it, and here it is! Our second Castlemont Family Picnic evening is coming up.

Date: Tuesday, October 11th

Time: 4:40-6:00

Where: Castlemont Field 

What: Picnic-- bring your own meal or treats or purchase food from our caterer. 

Additional Info: Manzi's Venezuelan Cuisine will be joining us again for those of you who would like to purchase dinner.  We will also have a sweet treat for our kids. Bring your blanket and/or chairs to enjoy our fall weather on the grass. 

* This coming Monday, October 10th is a Professional Development day for our staff. There is no school for students. 

As always, I appreciate your presence and ongoing involvement in our community.

Halloween Dance/Baile de Halloween

Let's BOO-gie! 
Join us for an evening of spooktacular fun at the Halloween Dance on Friday, Oct. 21st from 6-8 pm.  Pre-order tickets are $8 each and will not be sold at the door.   Only 300 tickets available, so order early!  All children must be accompanied by a parent. This is a teacher sponsored fundraiser to raise money for classrooms.   Dress up in your Halloween costume and join us for a WICKED good time!  The fundraising committee would appreciate any donations of canned Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, and cases of bottled water to sell at the event. Donations can be turned into the office. Thank you for your support!

Únase a nosotros para una noche de diversión espeluznante en el baile de Halloween el viernes 21 de octubre de 6 a 8 p. m. Los boletos de pre-pedido cuestan $8 cada uno y no se venderán en la puerta. ¡Solo 300 boletos disponibles, así que ordene con anticipación! Todos los niños deben estar acompañados por un padre. Generations School Photography will send your child's proof via email 2 weeks after picture day. All ordering is done online and they will be shipped to your home address. See flyer below for details.
