FAQs

Do I need to attend both presentation rounds?

A: No.  Each teacher or teacher team will present the same information twice so that families with more than one student can see at least two classrooms. Our 4/5th combo will tailor their presentations and will send the schedule home.

Can I bring my children to Back-to-School Night?

A: The information you will hear during BTSN is for adults; however, if you do not have a childcare option, we still encourage you to attend. We ask that you keep your children with you as we will not have adult supervision on our playgrounds.

Do we need to attend the Parent Information Meeting?

A: We very much hope you will attend!  We will be sharing information about what is happening on campus, our Home and School Club will explain how they support our students and teachers, and we will be holding elections for our School Site Council.

Will I be able to talk privately with our teacher about my child?

A: Back-to-School night presentations are for the entire class, and the teachers will not have time to meet individually or privately. We highly encourage you to reach out to your teacher for a scheduled conference at ANY time.  You do not need to wait until Conference Week in October.

Heartfelt thanks to our wonderful school community for supporting our Castlemont's Got Talent Fundraiser last Friday evening. We hope you all enjoyed an evening of food and entertainment featuring our very own Castlemont stars. From dancing to singing, music to comedy, our students showcased their courage and hard work in displaying their talents for all of us to admire and appreciate. In addition, we raised a profit of about $2200 which will go back to classrooms. Thank you for supporting all of our teacher sponsored fundraisers this year!

Hello Castlemont Families,

Can you believe it is almost May? Our Talent Show was held last Friday and then we had student assemblies today. Thank you to our dedicated student performers and the outstanding staff who created the production. As we turn toward the last weeks of school, I would like to share news about upcoming events and special days.

Today, Tuesday, April 25th, is the first day of state testing for 3rd - 5th grade students. Please help us by:

  • Being on time
  • Not checking your student out of school during the testing periods. We will not be able to interrupt classes that are testing.

  • If you have questions about any of the state tests, your student’s academic performance, or your ability to opt your student out of CAASPP assessments, please contact me.

This Thursday, April 27th from 6:00-7:30 pm in our Multi-Use room, the Silicon Valley Sponsoring Committee will be holding a community safety meeting. Please join us to share your experience with neighborhood safety. Help us develop a strategy to address the safety concerns in our community. Your participation and input are important.

Our Spring Carnival is approaching! Mark your calendar for May 19th from 4:00-8:00pm. There will be carnival games, bounce houses, food trucks, baked goods, and a silent auction.  We are always looking for additional family volunteers to help. For more information,  contact Castlemont parent/event organizer Sean St. Cin at sean.stcin [at] gmail.com

Our students in grades 3–5 participate in the statewide testing program called the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The tests in the CAASPP System provide information to teachers, parents/guardians, and students about students’ progress and readiness for college and career.

Our school’s testing dates are:

  • April 25th - May 19th

Please make sure that your student gets plenty of sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast. We ask that all appointments are scheduled outside of regular school hours so as to not disrupt you students testing experience.  It is also very important that all students arrive to school on time.

A huge thanks to all families who supported our Applebee's Fundraiser Event this past Saturday.  It was so wonderful to see so many families interact and socialize, while enjoying a pancake breakfast served by our amazing teachers. We are lucky to have a great school community! Please look out for communications soon for our final teacher sponsored fundraiser event, Dinner & Dessert at the premiere of the Castlemont Talent Show on Friday, April 21st!
