Castlemont Elementary School

Back to School Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!

Hello Castlemont Families,

I hope you all stayed healthy and safe during your vacation.  All of us are busily preparing for your virtual arrival on the first day of school, Monday, August 24th.  Whether you are participating in the four-phased or year-long distance learning option, we will all begin this year in virtual classrooms.  Our teaching staff officially starts their year next week, though many leave their unpaid vacation early to get a jump on the year.

As we continue with distance learning, you will notice that your child will be involved in more synchronous ("live") lessons.  You can expect to hear from your teacher to set up a time to meet you and your student the first week of school.

Class lists will be posted online using your child's student ID number on Friday, August 21st. No names will be posted online and we will not be posting class lists in front of the school as we usually do due to social distancing concerns.

The school day will start at 8:30 and end at 2:15.  Students will not be in front of a screen the entire school day. Attendance is mandatory and participation in the distance learning classroom is an expectation.  Students will receive grades.

Technology will be handed out next week to our incoming kindergarteners, new students, and those with more than one Castlemont student in their household.  Learning materials will also be handed out .  We will be asking last year's kinder students to return their borrowed iPads to exchange for a Chromebook. I will send a School Messenger email and voicemail with further details regarding the pick up times. Please check your voicemail and email regularly for updates.  We miss all of you!
