Updated Wed, May 30th

Due to conflicts with our district's middle school promotion ceremonies on Wednesday, June 13, we must change our 5th grade promotion ceremony to Tuesday, June 12 at 8:30 AM.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your family.

Please refer to this updated schedule.

  • 8:30-9:15: Please meet in the Multi-Use Building (cafeteria) to honor our 5th grade students. We will begin promptly at 8:30, so please arrive on time. Seating is first come, first served.

  • 9:15-9:45: Photo opportunity in the Quad (outside Rooms 4, 5, & 7)

  • We would like this to be a special occasion for all students and families. Therefore, we are requesting that students dress appropriately.

Please do not bring flowers, balloons, money and candy necklaces, etc. to celebrate your child’s promotion. Save those things for home!

 Thank you,

Eric Brown, Castlemont Principal

Jog A Thon

Grab your TENT and join us at the CASTLEMONT CAMP GROUND to help our CAMPERS have a successful HIKE at this year's Jog-A-Thon.  We need volunteers to be sure the CAMPERS have a great time and are not distracted by the majestic FOREST.

Schedule:  The students will run in three groups.   Warm-ups begin 15 minutes prior to start time.

TK/K/1 grades:  8:50 to 9:20 a.m.

2/3 grades:  9:30 to 10:10 a.m.

4/5 grades:  10:20 to 11:10 a.m.

Volunteers:  If you’ve signed up to volunteer, please check in at the volunteer table (located on the playground near room 19) to get your name tag.  If you haven’t signed up yet and can help, please check at the volunteer table on the day of the event

Pledge Forms: There are two ways to raise money and earn prizes: per lap pledges and flat pledges.

Per lap pledges will be turned in after students have run.  Please collect and turn in all pledge money by Friday, June 1. Extra pledge forms are in the office.

Lunch: Please provide your child’s usual lunch.  Hot lunch will be available as usual. Each child will get an Otter Pop snack after they run.

T-Shirts: Each student will receive a Jog-A-Thon shirt on Friday.  A limited number of t-shirts will be for sale for adults and younger siblings at the Jog-A-Thon for $10.

In August, our School Site Council will have three openings typically filled by our parents. The Council is one of the most important decision-making groups at Castlemont and is composed of five parent/community members and five representatives from the school’s staff.

The Council reviews the school plan annually, establishes a budget, makes modifications as necessary, and assists in the evaluation of the school’s programs. Members are elected by the groups that they represent. Parent and community representatives and alternates are elected for a two-year term.

Over the summer, please consider becoming a candidate for School Site Council and be watching for more information to come in August.

As the school year continues through Spring and into the last days of school, please encourage your children to remember to follow the 3Rs (Respect, Responsibility, and the Right to be Safe).

  • Continue to come to school on time and ready to learn
  • Follow the teacher’s instructions
  • Make good decisions
  • Keep yourself and others around you safe.

As the school year is winding down, we’d like to remind you that we want to promote and model good eating choices for our students. Prior to bringing any food items for the class, parents must first get teacher approval. Parents can then bring a healthy treat such as popcorn, fruits, vegetables, crackers and cheese for curriculum related celebrations. If you choose to bring a beverage, water is preferred. Cupcakes, cakes, brownies, donuts, ice cream and other sugary treats, soda, and high fructose beverages will not be permitted. Thank you for supporting our students’ good health at school.
