Your time and efforts are critical in providing enrichment opportunities for our children such as: Library, Playworks, Assemblies, Field Trips, and STEAM Lab. Our 2018 Jog-a-Thon is coming Friday, May 25th, and we're calling out to our fabulous Castlemont community for volunteer support! Help is needed for various tasks such as; track set up and take down, handing out lap bracelets, etc. We are also asking for donations of cases of water bottles. They can be dropped off in your child's classroom. Flyers with more detailed information were sent home in the Monday envelopes and are also available in the school office and online at castlemonthsc.weebly.com.
All students will receive a t-shirt for participation in the event. The cost of printing each shirt is $7.00. Please consider donating $5.00 or more to help offset the cost of the shirts. All those donating $5.00 or more will receive a prize and have their name in a drawing for a Baskin Robbins gift card! Forms were sent home in the Monday envelope are are also available in the school office and at castlemonthsc.weebly.com.
Our very own Castlemont students have written and created a gofundme campaign. The goal is to raise $2,000 to help purchase buddy benches to support a pro-friend and anti-bullying campus. Here is the students' message:
The Buddy Bench is a tool to bring people who do not have a voice to get a friend. By having this gofundme, we can make more friendships together.
We want to bring all the students of our school together and by doing this we can create more friendships and collaborative working.
We want the Buddy Bench because some people at our school do not have friends and by using this Buddy Bench they can have a friend come and help them and ask them to play.
Being lonely is a horrible feeling. Let's end loneliness at Castlemont and make a friend out of everyone.

Here's a great way to find out if field hockey is the sport for your child! The camp will feature field hockey basics and skills for beginning level players currently in 1st - 9th grades. Coaching will be provided by current Del Mar Varsity Field Hockey players and alumni. The dates for the camp are Monday June 25 to Thursday June 28, 9:00 am to noon at Del Mar High School. The camp price is $75.

Our next Spirit Theme Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25th. It's Hat Day! Wear your favorite hat to school! The class in grades TK-2 and 3-5 with the highest participation receive popsicles and have the honor of Danny the Dragon in their rooms for the entire month.
