Math night

Campbell Union School District's Innovation Coaches, Amanda Haughs and Misty Kluesner, will be hosting a hands-on parent information session to help families understand the Common Core State Standards in K-5 mathematics. Please join us on Thursday, March 22nd, 6:00-7:00 pm, in the Multi-Use Room at Castlemont, to examine the different ways that students are doing math in Common Core classrooms.

They will also provide tips and resources for supporting your student at home with mathematics.

Please contact Amanda Haughs (ahaughs [at] campbellusd.org) with questions regarding the elementary school events.

We are glad to have parents take an active role volunteering in the classroom. However, we do not promote parties that are unrelated to the school’s curriculum (i.e. Birthdays). Gifts are discouraged. Balloons are not permitted. We want to promote and model good eating choices for our students. Prior to bringing any food items for the class, parents must first get teacher approval. Parents can then bring a healthy treat such as popcorn, fruits, vegetables, crackers and cheese for curriculum related celebrations. If you choose to bring a beverage, water is preferred. Cupcakes, cakes, brownies, donuts, ice cream and other sugary treats, soda, and high fructose beverages will not be permitted.

Please remember to use caution when driving on the streets surrounding Castlemont. We have had many close calls where students and parents were almost hit by cars. There are a lot of speeding cars and illegally parked cars during the morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. When crossing the streets around campus, use the crosswalks. Please follow the traffic rules, drive patiently, and help us all stay safe.

Thank you

Many thanks to our Book Fair Coordinators, Valerie Rountree and Laurie Saenz, and all book fair parent volunteers who helped make our Spring Book Fair a success!  It takes a lot of work to set up, maintain, operate and take down the fair, your help is a valued asset to our school.

Thank you to all who visited our fair.  With your support, we are able to provide books for our Library and classrooms.  With your "All for Books" donations we were also able to help provide books to students whom may not have had the opportunity to get a new book.  Happy Reading!
