One of the most important decision-making groups at Castlemont is our elected School Site Council. The Council is composed of five parent and community members and five representatives from the school’s staff.

The Council reviews the school plan annually, establishes a budget, makes modifications as necessary, and assists in the evaluation of the school’s programs. Members are elected by the groups that they represent. Parent and community representatives and alternates are elected for a two-year term and may stand for re-election upon the completion of each term.  If you are interested in running for the Council, please submit your name, with a short biography, to the front office by Wednesday, September 13. The voting ballot will be sent home on Monday, September 18 and returned to the front office by Friday, September 22.  The elected council members will be notified and his/her names posted in the front office.

There are currently 2 parent/community member seats to be filled. The candidates receiving the most votes will serve on the Council as parent/community representatives. Write-in candidates receiving votes have an equal opportunity to be elected or serve as alternates on the Council. We meet 6 times throughout the year on weekday afternoons at 3:00 pm.

Welcome to the start of a new year! We are excited as ever to get this year going! We've made some changes to our Spirit Days!  In the past, we’ve designated every Friday as “Wear Your School Colors/Castlemont T-shirt Day”, and this year we’d like to add something a little different.  As well as wearing our school colors and/or Castlemont t-shirt on Fridays, we are going to designate one Wednesday a month where students, faculty, and staff get to dress according to a certain theme.

Here is the schedule for this year’s Spirit Days:

Wed. Sept. 27th Neon Day - wear your brightest neon colors

Wed. Oct. 25th Sports Day - wear your favorite team’s jersey, hat, etc...

Wed. Dec. 20th All One Color Day - wear one color, one color only

Wed. Jan. 24th Pajama Day - wear your favorite PJs to school

Wed. Feb. 28th Inside Out Day - have fun - wear your clothes inside out

Wed. Mar. 28th Disney Day - dress in your favorite Disney clothes

Wed. Apr. 25th Hat Day - wear your favorite hat all day long

Wed. May 23rd College Shirt Day - wear your favorite college shirt

Every month, classrooms will compete to win the Spirit Dragon and a popsicle party. Winning classrooms will be determined based upon the highest percentage of participation within their grade span (TK-2 and 3-5).  Winners will be announced at our monthly spirit assemblies.

If you have any questions about our Spirit Days please feel free to call or email Assistant Principal Cathy McAvoy (cmcavoy [at] campbellusd.org).

We look forward to seeing our Dragon Spirit at Castlemont this upcoming year.

Welcome Back to School

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year!  We are so excited to begin the new year with an invitation to join us Thursday night August 31 from 5:00-6:30 PM, on the field for our annual Family Picnic social.  Just bring your dinner and a blanket and join other Castlemont families and get reacquainted, while also meeting new parents and their children.  It’s a family friendly way to get to know the Castlemont community, which is always a fun and supportive group.

While you were vacationing, we had a couple of changes in staff.  Ms. Herr comes to our 5th grade team from Rosemary School (and before she earned her credential, Katie was an Instructional Assistant at Castlemont, welcome back!).  Ms. Smyth is joining our kinder team via Moreland School District.  Ms. Hart will be our new Reading intervention teacher by way of St. Mary’s School in Los Gatos.  Mrs. Gruetter and Mr. Kondo are joining our 4th grade team.  We are thrilled to have them as members of our wonderful staff and school community.

On behalf of the Castlemont staff, we look forward to the new school year and to seeing you and hearing about your wonderful summer experiences.
