Jog-A-Thon

The HSC is currently accepting donations towards the Jog-A-Thon t-shirts. The cost of the shirts is $7 each and we would greatly appreciate donations to help off set the cost. Each student who donates $5 or more will receive a small prize.

Also, volunteers are needed to help the day of the event. Without the help of volunteers, the Jog-A-Thon would not be possible.  This year the Jog-A-Thon will be held on Friday, May 26th. Watch your Monday Envelope for a teal volunteer form with details about the specific needs. For more information or to volunteer to help with the Jog-A-Thon, you can also email Emily at eloek [at] yahoo.com.

No more piles of paper that may or may not make it home!

Links to the flyers are at the bottom of the weekly e-news message and with the e-flyers link on our school’s home page.

Students Must Arrive After 8:00 am

The safety of our students is our number one concern.

As noted in the Castlemont Parent Handbook:

Students are not to arrive at school before 8:00 a.m. as there is no supervision.  Once a student is on the school grounds, he/she may not leave without written permission.

If you need child care before or after school, we have Campbell Care, a fee based program.  For contact information, contact the CUSD Extensions Program at 408-364-4200 X 6378.

grapefruit

Does your child love grapefruit? You may be surprised to learn he or she does!  On Wednesday, March 22nd, Castlemont students sampled the locally grown grapefruit that was served in the cafeteria that day.  The UC CalFresh Nutrition Education Program and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Youth Nutrition Program staffed a “voting station” in the cafeteria so students could provide feedback on the fresh fruit to Nutrition Services.  The results were exciting with 156 kids saying they loved it, 38 saying they liked it, and only 55 saying it was not for them today.

Happy Camper Book Fair

The HSC Book Fair Coordinators would like to thank all our Volunteers (student volunteers, Castlemont families and staff) for another successful book fair. Together we got the equivalent of 1,900 books into the hands of our students and their families. That is approximately 342,000 minutes of reading!

We look forward to seeing you all again at our next book fair - Fall 2017. In the meantime, remember “There is more treasure in books, than all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island” -Walt Disney
