 At Campbell Union School District, we believe that a well-fed student is a thriving student. That's why we are proud to continue participating in the California Universal Meals Program (UMP), a landmark initiative that ensures every child in our district has consistent access to the nutrition they need to succeed in the classroom—at absolutely no cost to the family. The Universal Meals Program is far more than just a free lunch. It is a fundamental support system designed to alleviate financial stress on families, combat child hunger, and maximize every student's potential for learning. Since the start of the 2022-2023 school year, California has led the nation by providing two free meals—breakfast and lunch—to all TK-12 public school students, regardless of their family's income status. The UMP eliminates the daily worry of packing a lunch or managing meal debt, saving families time and money on grocery bills. Studies show this program has significantly reduced stress for parents across California. When children are properly nourished, they can concentrate better, retain information, and have the energy they need for a full day of academics, sports, and social interaction. We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to remind their children that these healthy, delicious meals are available every morning and lunchtime. It is a stable, reliable resource for our entire community. Campbell Union School District’s Child Nutrition Services (CNS) is committed to providing tasty and nutritious meals. Our central kitchen sources organic produce and meats with the majority of meals cooked from scratch reducing the amount of processed food products.  Dear Parents and Guardians: During the school year, our online student safety management system, called Gaggle, reviews student-generated documents for words and phrases that trigger a concern for student safety. Please note that Gaggle will not be active from June 27th through August 19th, and documents will not be reviewed by Campbell Union School District staff for words and phrases that may be troubling. For students retaining district-owned Chromebooks during the summer, please also note that the devices will still have CIPA-compliant web-filtering to protect students from browsing harmful or malicious sites. Parental supervision is recommended, as always.  A Word About Wellness If a concern arises that causes you to seek mental health support for your child, please consider the following agency partners <ul> <li>Uplift School Linked Services - 408-332-6692-Andy Sweet, LCSW-BBS LIC #24603, Clinical Program Manager, <a href="mailto:Richardandrew.sweet@upliftfs.org">Richardandrew.sweet@upliftfs.org</a>.   School Linked Services through Uplift Family Services is a school based mental health program that provides individualized support for students who may be struggling with anger, depression, anxiety or other mental health concerns.  This summer, School Linked Services will also be offering social skills groups including Self-Care, Ecotherapy, Friendship Making, Story Time, Teen Groups. Additionally, we are offering a parenting group focused on managing Family Transitions.  All Services can be provided either in-person, phone, or videoconferencing (telehealth).  Eligibility for School Linked Services is dependent on the student having Medi-Cal.   </li> <li>Uplift Prevention & Early Intervention – 408-425-4341 – Christopher Tsang, LMFT BBS Lic#111590, Clinical Program Manager, <a href="mailto:Christopher.tsang@upliftfs.org">Christopher.tsang@upliftfs.org</a>. The PEI program offers the services of our Clinicians, Family Partners, and/or Family Specialists all of whom work in close collaboration with parents and teachers to support children and families in schools, in their homes, and in their community. Please note that Gaggle will not be active from June 27th through August 19th, and documents will not be reviewed by Campbell Union School District staff for words and phrases that may be troubling. For students retaining district-owned Chromebooks during the summer, please also note that the devices will still have CIPA-compliant web-filtering to protect students from browsing harmful or malicious sites.
