Board Meeting News – September 2016

<p><strong>District Reorganization Update</strong></p><p>Administrators for Campbell Middle School provided a status report to the Board in relation to their work at the school since June.</p><p>During the summer, they oversaw:</p><ol><li>Facility&nbsp;clean&nbsp;up&nbsp;and minor campus improvements, including tree replacement, outside seating for students, and removal of lockers that were inadequate for campus needs.</li><li>Hiring faculty, creating team-building opportunities for the school employees, re-initiating the Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) system, and establishing the new Instructional Leadership Team (ILT).</li><li>Reviewing and adjusting systems, such as creating a common lunch period, a&nbsp;singly&nbsp;daily bell schedule, and increasing instructional minutes.</li><li>Building the Transformation Team—which will include students, staff, neighbors, administrators and other community stakeholders—to meet and develop a plan for the school’s transition from middle school to a grade TK-8 school.</li></ol><p><strong>Strategic Plan Update</strong></p><p>Superintendent Eric Andrew reported that work on the five objectives aimed at achieving the district’s Strategic Goals is going well.&nbsp;</p><p>He noted that work on the goals has progressed well with many of the objectives met.
