Castlemont students have the opportunity to participate in our school-wide Halloween Parade on Wednesday, October 31, at 8:30 am.

Please keep the following items at home: full face masks, swords, guns or other weapons (even if they are part of the costume) and save face makeup and hair color for your evening celebrations.

Students are encouraged to come to school ready for the parade with an appropriate costume and regular clothing on underneath.  After the parade, children will remove their costumes and regular instruction will begin.

Parents who would like to view the parade can do so from the blacktop area. So, bring your cameras and/or video recorders and enjoy the show!

Sometimes our students need a change of clothes to borrow. Our Health Office is seeking donations of girl's pants (sizes 5-10). Pants with elastic waistbands are especially preferred. We are also requesting donations of girls' shirts and some used shoes. Please bring your donations to the office. Thank you.

Recycle symbol

The Castlemont Home and School Club and Clothes Bin are partnering to collect and recycle old clothing, shoes and textiles. So please do not throw them away. Just place the items in the green recycling bin in our parking lot. Every pound of recycled items supports our school! You can place the following in the bin: clothing, footwear, undergarments, hats, belts, purses, wallets, and linens. The bin is located in front of school near the office parking lot.

Art Vistas volunteer

Last year, we heard from our parent community the desire to have an art program, and with the approval of our HSC Board and extraordinary support and assistance from our first grade parent, Emily Zirkel, Art Vistas has arrived and is in full swing! Throughout a student’s years at Castlemont, he/she will be introduced to various forms of art, artists, and techniques. Their artwork will be showcased in the Spring. Thanks to Emily’s, hard work and tireless efforts, more than fifty volunteers came ready to teach, paint, sketch, glue, and support classroom instruction last week. Students worked with pastels, various types of paper, created totem poles, trains, and landscape designs with depth and dimensions. It was a huge success!

Artistic experiences included:

TK/Kinder - Train collage in art
1st Grade - Lines - teach the concepts of lines
2nd Grade - Landscapes
3rd Grade - People and their feelings
4th Grade - Realism and Primitivism
5th Grade - Art of the 1st Americans
