Castlemont Elementary School

Principal's Message 9/23/21

From Boo-vie Bags to our Character Strong trait of the month, Ms. Prindle shares the latest news.

Hello Castlemont Families,

We are now completing our 5th week of school, and we are in full swing.  We are wrapping up  our first round of assessments in math and English Language Arts , the data from which we will use to inform the academic needs of each student. Our teachers have finished the first of our monthly focal GLAD strategies, "Input Charts," and are now focusing on the strategy of "Big Books."

Another monthly focus comes from our Character Strong social emotional curriculum. September's trait of the month is Courage.  Our definition: Courage is to choose what is right, good, and kind even when it is hard or scary.  Consider asking your student to explain to you a time where they displayed courage using this definition.

Our teachers are again raising funds for our classrooms with the extremely popular "Boo-vie Bags."  Please support our efforts by purchasing Boo-vie Bags for yourself, your family, and your friends.  See the accompanying article for all the details.  Here is the online order form.  This Boo-vie Bag Video is all you will need for inspiration.

Most importantly, please be looking for communication from your child's teacher regarding conferences. Each teacher will reach out to schedule a time to meet with you. This is an important time to hear more about your child in class, set goals, and review the latest assessment data.  Conference week begins on October 4th.

Thank you for all you do to support our school community!
