Dear Castlemont Families,

This has been a stressful time for many of us as we cope with and adjust to the effects of this latest COVID-19 surge. Please know that we are following the latest health guidelines and are doing everything we can to keep our children and staff safe.

One of the most important ways to keep our community safe is to monitor via our weekly COVID-19 testing.  If you have not already given consent for your child(ren) to be tested, I invite you to sign up now.  Please call our office 408 364-4233 to let us know you signed up because it takes time for the system to update.  Here are the links in English and Spanish:

We also continue to “do school” as usual as much as possible.  With this in mind, I have two invitations:

  • We are holding New Family Tours on Wednesday, January 19th. The virtual tour presentation will be via Zoom at 9:00AM. Please fill out the form below in order to receive the Zoom link.  If you know of anyone who will be new to Castlemont next year, please share this link with them:

An in-person, outdoor-only tour of our campus will be held at 3:30PM. Please meet in

front of the school office if you would like to join us.

  • Our next virtual Coffee with the Principals will be on Wednesday, January 26th. Please fill out the Google Form if you would like to join us.  The Coffee in English will be at 5:30PM, and the Coffee in Spanish will be at 6:30PM.  If you fill out the form, we will email you the link the morning of the meeting. We hope to see you there!

Dear Castlemont Families:

To protect everyone at our school, please continue to monitor the health of your child(ren) every day for any COVID19 symptoms.

If your children are not feeling well, please keep them at home and report the absence to the school—especially if they are displaying cold, flu or COVID19 symptoms. Symptoms include:

  • Fever or Chill

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headaches

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Runny Nose or Congestion (test only if combined with other symptoms)

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

There are also five symptoms to keep an eye out for when it comes to the Omicron variant:

  • Fever

  • Runny nose

  • Throat pain

  • Dry Cough

  • Body aches

If any of these symptoms exist, have your children tested at a clinic or test site to determine whether they are positive for COVID19. Home tests are not accepted. Please report positive results to the school health office.

If anyone living in your home is infected or if your student has close contact with an infected person, your student must stay home-- then please call our office ASAP at         408-364-4233.

Vaccine Clinic This Saturday, Jan. 8, at Rosemary School

According to the CDC, vaccines remain the best public health measure to protect people from COVID-19, slow transmission, and reduce the likelihood of new variants emerging. COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. The CDC recommends that everyone 5 years and older protect themselves from COVID-19 by getting fully vaccinated, and that everyone 12 years and older get a booster shot after completing their primary COVID19 vaccination series.

Do your holiday or regular shopping with gift cards that give back!  Scrip Gift Cards are regular gift cards - you receive the full value that you paid - but our Castlemont Home & School Club earns money from their purchase, ranging from 1% to 20%!   We can use these funds to pay for student field trips, assemblies, teacher appreciation events, and more, with no additional money required from your pocket.

Do you shop at other stores?  This form has just a sampling of the options out there - please contact Emily Ah Sing to confirm whether your preferred stores also offer Scrip Gift Cards!
Orders submitted by December 7 are expected to be received before the winter break.  You can print out this form or write down your order, along with your name, phone number and email address, and send it to your child's teacher with payment in an envelope marked for "Castlemont HSC".  If you have any questions, please contact Emily Ah Sing at emahsing [at] gmail.com.

Dear Castlemont Families,

Our focus trait for the months of November and December is gratitude.  Our students and adults are practicing intentional observance of the good things provided by others and the happy parts of our lives.  A simple but sincere "thank you" is powerful and can start an entire cycle of positivity.

I hope you will take a moment to ask your child about gratitude and what it means to them in order to further strengthen the home-school connection.

From our staff to your family, thank you for allowing us to serve your children.  Have a safe and restful holiday week.

~Kristen
